Our Story
Bringing Ice Sports Back to Kent & Sussex Counties — Join the Miracle Ice Arena Movement!
Over the past 22 Kent and Sussex Counties have developed a growing passion for ice
sports. From youth hockey to figure skating, thousands of local families have built
memories, friendships, and skills on the ice. With the rink now gone, access to these life-
Shaping experiences has disappeared, leaving our region without a dedicated ice facility.
Introducing: Miracle Ice Arena
We’re stepping up to change that.
Miracle Ice Arena is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded by a passionate board of directors with deep experience in ice sports, rink operations, and local business leadership. Our mission is simple yet ambitious:
To build a state-of-the-art, two-sheet ice arena right here in Southern Delaware with one rink ready to open by Fall 2026.
What Miracle Ice Arena Will Offer
This new facility will be a community hub offering a wide variety of ice programs, including:
Full-Travel and In-House Youth Ice Hockey
Learn to Skate & Learn to Play Programs
Figure Skating
Public Skating
Birthday Parties & Private Rentals
Ice Rental to Community Groups
(Future) Curling Programs
Who We’re Serving
This arena will serve Kent and Sussex Counties, offering a local, year-round home for ice sports. Currently, the closest rinks in distance from the closed rink are over 65 miles away in New Castle County— too far for many families to access regularly from Sussex County and upper Maryland.
We’re Not Doing This Alone
We already have support and program commitments from key partners, including:
Salisbury University
Delmarva Warriors Ice Hockey (Disabled Veterans Program)
Generals Hockey (Full Travel, Limited Travel, and In-House teams currently operating at Patriot Ice Center)
Havoc Ice Hockey (High School and Middle School Programs)

Our Mission
As a 501(c)(3) applicant nonprofit, we will partner with local businesses, families, athletes, and community leaders to bring an ice arena to Southern Delaware, serving Kent and Sussex counties, along with surrounding states, cultivating a community where team sports and recreational activities bring people of all ages together.
Our Team
The Miracle Ice Arena, exclusively for charitable purposes, will raise funds and reinvest all net proceeds into creating, operating, and maintaining a state-of-the-art venue that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and wellness. From learn to skate, learn to play, in-house, travel, adult, disabled veterans, school hockey leagues, curling, and figure skating programs to community events and public skate, the facility will offer something for everyone.
